How we started
Incorporated in 2011, M P Bagaria Vinimay Pvt. Ltd. has over a decade established itself as a major force in the timber industry of Bengal. From importing small consignments of gmelina logs from Western Africa the company has now a presence in all tropical countries from where hardwood is sourced. The company is at the forefront of importing sawn timber (wood beams) from Malaysia. M P Bagaria Group is one of the first names that comes to mind when someone is looking at purchasing timber and allied products in Eastern India.
Countries of operation – Malaysia, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Surinam, Guyana, USA, Liberia, and other Latin American and Western African nations.
The company gets its name and inspiration from Late Shree Mahabir Prasad Bagaria, a pioneer in setting up the timber trade in Kolkata from the late 50s through to the start of the 20th century. To date the company follows in his philosophy of transparency, honesty and 100% customer satisfaction.

Our Directors
Varun Bagaria
Mr. Varun a 3rd generation entrepreneur completed his education from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and higher education in finance from Cass Business School, London. His past experience involves working with PwC, Delhi and the financial sector in Kolkata. In 2011 he exited the corporate world to establish M PBagaria VinimayPvt Ltd. The company has flourished under his young and dynamic leadership and expertise achieving a 20-30% YoY growth. He bought organizational efficiency and new generation concepts to a traditional and unorganized business sector. He is a prominent member of Bengal Timber Importers Association helping and supporting fellow importers. Mr. Varun believes in giving back to the society and is associated with organizations such as Round Table and Young Indians.
Raj Kumar Bagaria
Mr. Raj is a 2nd generation businessman who followed his father Late Shree M P Bagaria’s footsteps in joining and expanding the family business of timber trading through the flagship firm Shree Shanker Timber Company. A graduate from St. Xavier’s, Kolkata and LLB from Hazra Law college; he successfully established and operated a fast food chain in New York, USA before stepping in the timber trade. His versatile and calm attitude towards business helps in tackling any tricky situation. With his business maturity, strong PRO, in-depth knowledge of compliance any many more attributes the company is sure to be on the right trajectory of growth.
A brief history
Late Shree Mahabir Prasad Bagaria sowed the seeds of what would later become M P Bagaria Group of companies by entering into the timber trade in Kolkata.
1995
Under Varun Bagaria the group diverted into imports and the flagship company M P Bagaria Vinimay Pvt Ltd was incorporated.
2011
First Import of Gmelina round logs from Ecuador, South America.
2012
Expanded operations in Malaysia and Indonesia which catapulted the group to newer heights.
2015
One of the most trusted and prominent name which come in mind when anyone discussed Timber in Eastern India.
